Answering Dakar’s Call
HBLSA Africa Summit in Senegal
Dakar called, and our Africa Summit Committee answered. For Spring Break 2026, HBLSA’s annual Africa Summit landed in Senegal, where our delegation engaged in rich dialogue on anti-corruption, digital activism, human rights, and regional monetary policy with practitioners shaping the continent’s future.
Beyond the conference rooms, participants stood on Gorée Island — a powerful and sobering reminder of the transatlantic slave trade — and learned to prepare thieboudienne, Senegal’s cherished national dish. They returned with full hearts, broadened perspectives, and a renewed commitment to meaningful engagement across Africa.
