Federal Law, City Enforcement: Tensions in Immigration Law with Professor Rick Su

03/31/2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Come hear Professor Rick Su discuss the struggles between cities, states, and the federal government as each, following both pragmatic and political considerations, pursues its own vision of an ideal immigration policy. Immigration federalism, particularly regarding sanctuary cities and states, has already been a hotly contested issue in this presidential administration, and most likely will only become more so.
Rick Su received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2004. Before joining the faculty at the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2007, he clerked for Hon. Stephen Reinhardt on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and worked in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He was a visiting professor at Harvard Law School in the fall semester of 2015. Su writes and teaches in the areas of local government law, immigration, and federalism.

Co-sponsored by the HLS Urbanists, the Harvard Immigration Project, and La Alianza. Supported by the DOS Grant Fund.

There will be a coffee chat immediately after.
