On February 13, 2020, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Protecting Federal Judiciary Employees from Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, and Other Workplace Misconduct. This hearing directly addressed a topic of the utmost concern to the Harvard Women’s Law Association – the safety, wellbeing, and overall experience of women and minorities at work in the federal judiciary.
The WLA is grateful to Harvard Law School alumna Olivia Warren who shared powerful testimony at the House Judiciary Committee hearing regarding sexual harassment she experienced as a judicial clerk. Her testimony reflects undeniable difficulties that Harvard Law School graduates can face during their clerkships, and speaks to the need for widespread reform in the clerkship hiring process, reporting procedures, and how law schools address their graduates’ clerkship experiences.
The Women’s Law Association looks forward to releasing a statement in support of reform efforts shortly.
