Preston Marquis (‘25)
Preston Marquis is a 3L from Norfolk, VA. On campus, he is a member of HLS Lambda, the Black Law Students Association, and the Journal of Law & Technology. During his 1L summer, he worked with the DOJ’s National Security Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. Prior to law school, he worked in the intelligence community. He received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2016 and in 2017, respectively.

Emily is a 2L from Durham, North Carolina. On campus, she is involved with the International Law Journal and the Journal on Legislation. She spent her 1L summer at the Department of Justice’s National Courts Section, where she contributed to several international trade cases. Before law school, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a B.A. in Linguistics and Political Science.

Ania Zolyniak (’26)
Ania Zolyniak is a 2L from Searingtown, New York. On campus, she is a Deputy Executive Editor for the National Security Journal and is involved with the first-generation student group, First Class. She spent her 1L summer at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, Criminal Division. She graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a B.S. in Foreign Service.

Haylee Levin is a 2L from Weston, FL. On campus she is a member of the Women’s Law Association, the Jewish Law Students Association, La Alianza, and is an Executive Editor with the National Security Journal. During her 1L summer, she worked at DOJ’s National Security Division. She graduated cum laude from Duke University in 2016 with an B.A. in International Comparative Studies and graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2018 with a M.A. in Security Studies.
Claire Carter (’25)
Claire Carter is a 3L from San Jose, California. On campus, she is the Managing Editor for the National Security Journal and previously served as President for NSLA. She spent her 1L summer in the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California and her 2L summer at Gibson Dunn’s Palo Alto office. She graduated summa cum laude from Point Loma Nazarene University with a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology: Criminal Justice.

Matthew Urfirer (‘25)
Matthew Urfirer is a 3L from New York. On campus, he is Executive Submissions Editor for the National Security Journal and previously served as VP for Development with NSLA. During his 2L summer, he worked in the National Security Group at Skadden, Arps and during his 1L summer he worked at Perseus Strategies and the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights. Prior to law school, he worked as a consultant, a policy analyst, and as a political campaign manager. He graduated from Harvard College in 2017 with a B.A. in Psychology and Government.
Pete Worrall (‘26)
Pete Worrall is a 2L from Spokane, Washington. On campus, Pete is involved with the National Security Journal and Armed Forces Association. He spent this past summer interning with the U.S. Army’s Office of the Staff Judge Advocate at Fort Liberty, NC. Prior to law school, Pete worked as a U.S. Army officer in Special Operations. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2018 with a B.S. in Military History and Spanish.

Jonathan Griffin is a 2L originally from St. Joseph, Missouri but more recently from Alexandria, Virginia. On campus, he is a member of Christian Union and an Executive Submissions Editor for the Harvard International Law Journal. During his 1L summer, Jonathan worked for the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs. Before law school, he graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Economics.
