Please join HIALSA for a lunch discussion with Professor Anselmo Reyes on the rise of international courts. Professor Reyes will discuss the creation of the International Commercial Courts, which is a transnational court with judges from various jurisdictions sitting on the bench to decide international commercial disputes. Such courts are an alternative to international arbitration and domestic litigation.
Professor Anselmo Reyes (A.B. Harvard ’80, Ph.D./LL.M./B.A. Cambridge) is an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court, which was founded in 2015 and is one of the first major example of an international commercial court. He is also former judge of the Hong Kong High Court, Professor of Legal Practice at the University of Hong Kong, and Representative of the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
