“Being an Arbitrator: Mission and Challenges”: Conversation with the “Father of Hong Kong Arbitration”
Interested in international arbitration? Interested in practicing law in Asia? Please join lunch talk & coffee with Neil Kaplan – a living legend in international arbitration and the “Father of Hong Kong Arbitration”. Neil Kaplan is a British international arbitrator who has been engaged for over 40 years in dispute resolution as a barrister in England, a government lawyer in Hong Kong, a practicing Queen’s Counsel in Hong Kong, and a Judge of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong in charge of the Construction and Arbitration List.
He will discuss how and why international arbitration has exploded since early 80’s particularly in Asia, especially in Hong Kong and Singapore. He will also address some of the problems facing arbitration today and some proposals for reform.
Non-pizza lunch will be served. Coffee will be held after the talk from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at WCC 3008.
