The Harvard Association for Law and Business is thrilled to host our 2022 Symposium: Law, Business, and Tech. Please join our kick-off event with Google’s Director of Litigation, Renny Hwang (HLS ’05). Mr. Hwang led Google’s work in the 2021 Supreme Court Case Google LLC. v. Oracle America. Mr. Hwang will take us behind the scenes of a landmark Supreme Court victory. Gary Reiner is an Operating Partner at General Atlantic, providing strategic support and advice to the firm’s investment teams and portfolio companies with a focus on strategy and technology. Before joining General Atlantic in 2010, Gary was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of General Electric where he led the mergers & acquisitions, sourcing, IT, operations, and quality teams for the company.
Angela McCray is currently the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at SurgoCap Partners. Angela worked as an associate at Simpson Thacher and Gunderson Dettmer until 2019. Angela then transitioned to being General Counsel at the Entangled Group and later moved into the role of General Counsel at Greenoaks Capital.

Ongoing Concern: Bankruptcy and Restructuring Perspectives on Venue Disputes

Please join the Harvard Association for Law and Business (HALB) and the Harvard Bankruptcy Roundtable for our flagship bankruptcy and restructuring panel featuring leaders from across the world of bankruptcy law and finance. Panelists will discuss a current controversy in bankruptcy, venue and forum shopping, from the perspectives of debtor and creditor side lawyers, investments bankers, and judges. In bankruptcy, where a debtor files for bankruptcy can make the difference between satisfactory and unsatisfactory outcomes – between who wins and who loses – and our panelists are experts in this high stakes process with different perspectives on the state of the law. Additionally, panelists will discuss venue reform proposals in Congress.
Confirmed in-person panelists include: Chief Judge Martin Glenn, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York; Meredith Lahaie, Partner at Akin Gump; Andy Dietderich, Partner and co-head of the Global Finance & Restructuring Group at Sullivan & Cromwell; and William “Tuck” Hardie, Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey. Harvard Association for Law and Business (HALB) and the Committee on Sports & Entertainment Law (CSEL)’s Dream Big Speaker Series for Spring 2022 features Mark Tatum of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Mark Tatum is the NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer as of 2014. Tatum, who joined the NBA in 1999, is responsible for the NBA’s business operations, including leading the league’s international efforts. He also oversees the Global Partnerships, Marketing, Communications and Team Marketing and Business Operations departments in addition to the NBA G League.
In 2016, Tatum was named to Forbes’ list of the Top 25 Most Influential Minorities in Sports. SportsBusiness Journal named Tatum to its list of the 50 Most Influential People in Sports Business in 2014 and 2015. For three straight years (2006, 2007 and 2008), he was also honored by the SportsBusiness Journal with a Forty Under 40 Award, making him an entrant into the publication’s Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame. Tatum also sits on numerous boards including USA Basketball, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, LA 2028 Summer Olympics, General Motors and the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors.
Tatum received a B.S. in Business Management from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard University. The event will be moderated by Eric Zilber JD ’22.
