Harvard Animal Law Society’s Vegan Cooking Class: Chutney Sandwiches

For our first vegan cooking night, we’re making chutney sandwiches: savory and spicy veggie sandwiches with Indian chutney—no cooking involved! 6-6:45 will be making the food and 6:45 on will be eating it. Feel free to join around 6:45 if you would like to say hello to other ALS members but prefer to skip the cooking!

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

 

Ingredients you will need:

Chutney
1 bunch fresh cilantro
1 inch fresh ginger
3-4 garlic cloves
1 jalapeño
A few sprigs of fresh mint (optional)
1 tsp cumin seeds (optional)
1 lime
1/4 cup peanuts (unsalted roasted or unsalted unroasted —you can try substituting with unsalted almonds or walnuts if you want)
Salt+pepper to taste
1tbsp Sugar
Blender

Bread (we’re making sandwiches so as many slices as you like, 2-3 sandwiches per person is about one meal, but depends on you)
Vegan butter (to spread on bread)
1 cucumber (should be good for 3 sandwiches)
2 small or 1 big tomato (for 3 sandwiches)
1 onion (we’ll need less than 1 full onion)
You can also add any other veggies that you like, and/or increase/decrease the amount of cucumber, tomato, onion to your preference.

Will take 30-45 min.
