Kami Gahiga
Kami Gahiga is a contemporary art specialist and curator based between Kigali and London. She is currently the VIP representative for Africa at Art Basel. Her research and interest centre on the impact of patronage in sustaining and shaping contemporary African art ecosystems, with a particular focus on the role of public and private collectors. She has developed key curatorial projects in collaboration with museums, private collections, galleries, and auction houses across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Kami is a contributor to the academic NKA Journal of Contemporary African Art and has lectured at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Kami was previously the Head of VIP & Gallery Relations at 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair globally. She is a nominator for the Norval Sovereign African art Prize in Cape Town. Kami earned a First Distinction MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London.
