Harvard Law School is home to a thriving LGBTQ+ population. With 180+ student members, Lambda is among the largest law student groups of its kind. The membership’s diverse experiences and interests make for a vibrant social scene: along with a packed schedule of club-sponsored gatherings, parties, study breaks and outings beyond Harvard, our members enjoy an annual out-of-town fall retreat where we build community and have fun. We also provide LGBTQ+-specific mentoring and academic support services to our members. Combined with our friends at other Harvard schools and the Boston area’s myriad universities, and it’s clear that support for LGBTQ+ law students at Harvard is hard to match.
Our passionate and driven membership, supported by a university with truly unparalleled resources, creates a broad platform for political and academic debates on cutting-edge LGBTQ+ issues. Each year, Lambda brings guiding lights of the movement to campus to speak on diverse topics crucial to our communities.
Finally, Lambda provides members opportunities to get directly involved in developments in and outside the legal realm, including through volunteer partnerships with local organizations and through advocacy projects that build on the law school’s LGBTQ+-friendly policies and identify new opportunities for change. Members can also participate in open conversations with potential employers through Lambda’s numerous networking events on campus, and meet others through fully subsidized attendance at the national LGBT Bar’s annual Lavender Law conference and career fair.
