Our 2023-2024 Team
Meet the students leading HLSBFI’s programming, community, and flagship annual conference, and the industry leaders who tirelessly support, advise, and mentor them.
HLSBFI is a student-run community at Harvard Law School focused on the legal, economic, and policy frontiers of blockchain and financial innovation. Our board organizes the Annual Conference, lunch panels, and networking programming throughout the academic year.
HLSBFI 2023–2024
Heather Zhou
Heather is a third-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School. She graduated from Duke University with double majors in public policy and French studies. She served as a law clerk for the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law this past spring and spent her 2L summer at Sullivan & Cromwell.
Louis Hunt
Louis is a fourth-year JD/MBA student at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. Louis was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to the Boston area during elementary school. Over the past few summers, Louis worked as an EIR at Pioneer Square Labs and led Special Projects for Lightning Labs. Prior to school, Louis worked as the COO of a fast-growth CPG company and a consultant at Bain & Company.
Xiaoli Jin
Xiaoli is a third-year JD student at Harvard Law School. She graduated from Middlebury College in 2019 with a double major in Computer Science and Political Science. Prior to law school, she worked at Keystone Strategy as a consultant, focusing on algorithmic bias, data privacy, and start-up growth strategy. In her 1L & 2L summers, she interned at Skadden, Palo Alto, where she worked on tax and IP matters. Xiaoli is also a non-residential tutor at Harvard Cabot House.
John Quin
John is a third-year law student at Harvard Law School, originally from Los Angeles, California. He graduated with High Distinction from UC Berkeley with a BA in Economics. Prior to law school, John spent two years working at Barclays as an investment banking analyst in the Bay Area, in their technology coverage group. He spent his 1L Summer working at Skadden in Palo Alto. He spent his 2L Summer working at Lazard in their Restructuring Group in New York.
Ojadamola “Damola” Takuro
Damola is an LL.M. student at Harvard Law School. She graduated with honors from the University of Lagos in Nigeria, and with the highest honors at the Nigerian Law School (NLS) with a B.L degree. At NLS, she won the Director-General’s Prize for First Class Students, and a Senior Advocate’s Prize for excellence in Corporate Law. Prior to Harvard, she practiced as an attorney in the legal team of Piggytech Global Limited (“PiggyVest”), operator of the first online “savings and investment” app in West Africa. She also acquired legal experience as an associate at AELEX Partners and served as Project Lead of the AELEX Fintech Centre.
Hayden Wang
Hayden is an LL.M. student at Harvard Law School. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree and Master’s Degree in Data Science from the University of Toronto. Prior to Harvard, he worked as a corporate and securities lawyer in Toronto. He is also a certified public accountant in China.
Jianlan "Masha" Ma
Masha is an LL.M. candidate at Harvard Law School. She graduated from Peking University with a J.D. degree in American Law and a J.M. degree in Chinese Law and Minzu University of China with an LL.B. degree. Prior to law school, she worked at Apple as a legal counsel and Fangda Partners as an Associate, focusing on data privacy, AI regulations, and other tech law issues. She has also interned for Honorable Chief Justice Ralph D. Gants at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
HLSBFI 2025–2026
LJ Huang
LJ is an external advisor to the HLS BFI. He has been a builder, operator, and researcher in the blockchain space since 2019. His interest lies in the intersection between law and blockchain, and would like to help address the most hands-on legal challenges to the HLS community. LJ holds a MS degree in computer science and writes for Bitcoin Magazine.
