HIALSA Conference 2026 — Pre-Conference Masterclass & Networking Reception — March 4, 2026
Join HIALSA for a discussion on how generative AI is already being used inside international arbitration teams — not as a pilot project, but in live disputes. We will examine the current state of generative AI in the legal industry, how the underlying models are evolving, and where meaningful technical, ethical, and procedural constraints lie as these systems become embedded in cross-border dispute resolution. The conversation will focus on how leading law departments are using generative AI in practice, what return on investment they are seeing, what in-house leaders expect from AI-enabled outside counsel, and how law firms are adjusting staffing models, workflows, and fee arrangements in response.
This Masterclass brings together four leaders from across the space: Hugh Carlson (CEO, Three Crowns), Benjamin Longlet (Legal Advisor to the CLO, Chevron), Robert Mahari (Founder, Akiva AI), and Pierce Kelaita (Liftlab, Stanford Law School). The conversation will be moderated by Millie Kim, HLS ‘26. Opening remarks will be delivered by Harvard Law School Henry L. Stimson Professor Mark Wu, Faculty Co-Director of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
