HIALSA Coffee Chat: Making Arbitration More Appealing: An In-House Perspective

Dispute resolution: do the neutrals, counsel and the actual parties share goals and priorities? Michael Lampert ’76, author of “Making Arbitration More Appealing” (May Docket of the Association of Corporate Counsel and October Journal NYS Bar Dispute Resolution Section), will deliver a talk both from personal experience and the analysis of the Global Pound Conference and share a proposal of one way to help achieve greater congruence of priorities. He will discuss dispute from the perspectives of outside counsel, inside counsel as clients, and ways to reconcile them.

Bio:
Michael Lampert is the retired Deputy General Counsel of BGC Partners, Inc., where his
responsibilities included managing dispute resolution worldwide. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), a Center for Efficient Dispute Resolution (CEDR) Certified Mediator, a distinguished Neutral of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR), a member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), on panels of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center (SVAMC) and multiple United States District Courts. Before BGC he was a litigator in private practice for about 30 years trying many cases and arbitrations.
