Challenges & Legitimacy of the System of Investment Treaty Arbitration

Please join HIALSA for a lunchtime presentation by Viren Mascarenhas, Counsel in King & Spalding’s New York office. Mr. Mascarenhas will speak about the challenges to the legitimacy of the system of investment treaty arbitration, focusing on the ways in which arbitral tribunals and governments have been addressing such concerns through arbitral awards rendered and the content of the next generation of investment treaties, respectively.

Most recently, Mr. Mascarenhas has been named as a Future Leader in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2017, an inaugural edition focused on selecting outstanding attorneys aged 45 or under, which writes that clients are “very impressed with his knowledge and intellectual abilities.”
