Thank You, Edgar!

Carl, Steve, and Josh of AFA’s board presented an AFA challenge coin and sweatshirt to Edgar Filho, the Administrative and Operations Supervisor at Harvard Law’s Dean of Students office.
Edgar has been an incredible support to AFA and all of Harvard Law’s student organizations. He also served in the Brazilian military. Thank you for all that you do, Edgar.

November Monthly Luncheon

AFA hosts monthly lunches to provide a space for its members to come together, unwind, and enjoy some camaraderie. In November our members, including a good number of ROK and KATUSA veterans, enjoyed a Korean feast while catching up with each other.

Bridging the Civil-Military Divide

On November 7, 2018, AFA organized an “Ask Me Anything” style panel with four of its members. Kendall, Isabel, Joe, and Logan answered questions about why they joined the military, issues of recruitment in lower-income communities, sexual assault, and how they respond to folks saying “Thank you for your service.”

100th Anniversary of Armistice Day

On November 11, 2018, veterans from across Harvard’s schools, ROTC cadets and midshipmen, and supporters commemorated the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day with a moment of silence and a 3-mile sunrise run organized by 1L Army vet Billy Wright and HLS Student Government.

Veterans Day Dinner 2018

As is traditional, Dean Manning and Dean Sells hosted Harvard Law’s annual Veterans Day Dinner. AFA came together and broke bread, hailing from all branches of service and officer and enlisted ranks. The highlights of the night, as always, were the “So there I was…” stories that kept us laughing uproariously.
