AFA welcomes the class of 2021

AFA welcomed 1Ls and new LLMs today at our first meet and greet of the year. We also enjoyed raising the glass once again with old friends. It was exciting to have such a great turnout, especially from vets from militaries across the world. Here’s to a great year ahead!

John Bellinger, a renowned national security and international public law expert, will be coming to speak at HLS on February 18, 2014, about “The AUMF, Drones, Guantanamo, the NSA Controversy, and other national security law challenges for the Administration.”

Please read Mr. Bellinger’s extensive and impressive biography here. Highlights, in addition to being a partner at Arnold & Porter, include: Legal Adviser to the Department of State from 2005 to 2009 under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Senior Associate Counsel to the President and Legal Adviser to the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House from 2001-2005. We are honored to welcome Mr. Bellinger and hope you can join us!

Please join the Armed Forces Association on Veteran’s Day this year for a special lunchtime speaker event featuring Prof. Goldsmith.  We are so excited that Prof. Goldsmith has offered to spend some time with the Vets on such a special day, and both the National Security Journal and National Security Law Association have graciously agreed to co-sponsor the event!

September 11th Spirit Run (led by Navy ROTC)

Who: All Harvard affiliated veterans
Where: Meet at Boston University NROTC Building, 116 Bay State Rd, Boston
Why: Join the area’s NROTC midshipmen, including Harvard College NROTC students, in a run along the Esplanade to Boston Commons.  Learn about several relevant monuments in the Commons and end with a thought-provoking reflection at the September 11th Memorial.  The event is designed to be educational, physical, and reflective.
