Valerie Biden Owens is one of the first women in the United States to have managed U.S. Senatorial as well as Presidential campaigns. Ms. Biden Owens successfully ran her brother Joe Biden’s seven straight U.S. Senate victories. For the past 14 year she has served as the Executive Vice President of Joe Slade White & Company.  She has also served on the National Board of the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum.

She has dedicated much of her time as a volunteer with Women’s Campaign International, training women in emerging democracies to develop organizing, communication and political skills. Valerie has also served for over 30 years on the board of The Ministry of Caring, a community organization dedicated to serving poor, homeless, and disadvantaged people. In the fall of 2010, she was honored with their highest award for her dedication and service.

Most recently she was a Fall 2014 Resident Fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University where she taught the course ‘Politics: Up close and Personal.’

In the words of the HLS community member who nominated her, “She is a firecracker: Fearless, whip-smart, and willing to go the distance.”

Valerie is a graduate of the University of Delaware and is also a certified trainer in body language: non-verbal communication skills.
