As the Dean of Students at Harvard Law School, Ellen Cosgrove has devoted herself to supporting members of the HLS community for over ten years. Having spent time in investment banking and corporate litigation, Ms. Cosgrove became the Dean of Students at the University of Chicago Law School in 1995. During her tenure at the University of Chicago and at Harvard, students have honored her for her contributions to the community on numerous occasions.

Beyond her dedication to the student body, Cosgrove exemplifies care for future and fellow lawyers through her service as a Director of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers and as a Trustee of Mount Holyoke College and the Practicing Law Institute.

In the words of the HLS community member who nominated her, “Dean Cosgrove is an inspiration to HLS community for her hard work, dedication, support and valuable knowledge she has tackling day to day challenges throughout the year always finding a way to ‘make it happen.’”

Cosgrove earned her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
