2020-21 Board of Directors

Steven Jiang, Co-President

Steven is a third-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School. In the past, Steven has worked on humanitarian efforts with Mercy Corps in Syria and Zimbabwe, legal and policy issues in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria at the Community Law Clinic of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, and in human rights and asylum law across a range of organizations. Steven is also passionate about driving impact through a number of different channels, and has both managed disaster response in Houston following Hurricane Harvey, and worked on building the science behind new companies at Flagship Pioneering, a biotech venture firm. Steven graduated from Stanford with a BS in Mathematics in two years.

Matthew O’Keefe, Co-President

Matt is a second-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School. Before law school, Matt graduated with Greatest Distinction from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he concentrated in Business and Public Policy. Previously, Matt has served in leadership roles within the Massachusetts Republican Party, including serving as Data Director with both the state party as well as the Inauguration Committee of the Baker-Polito administration. Within the administration, Matt has managed work on data flows and management in the Executive Branch. This past summer, Matt served at the Centre for Law and Democracy in Halifax.

Wentao Zhai, Treasurer

Wentao is a third-year J.D. student interested in international law, the rule of law, and theories of liberty through a comparative lens. He graduated summa cum laude from Middlebury College in Classics and was an Ertegun Scholar at Oriel College, University of Oxford. He spent the past summer as a law clerk at Pacific Legal Foundation, a libertarian non-profit firm where he worked on cases involving individual liberty, equal protection, and property rights. Hailing from Beijing, China, Wentao has previously led reading groups with local middle and high school students on foundational texts of ancient philosophy and classical liberalism. Wentao also enjoys historical fiction and classical music and looks forward to collaborating with students and scholars from diverse backgrounds to further the intellectual dialogue of rule of law and raise awareness of legal challenges around the world.

Mason Ji, Vice President

Mason Ji is a third-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School. He graduated summa cum laude from Yale University, where he studied global affairs and political science. He then completed a Master of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy and a Master of Public Policy at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He was the youngest delegate to the United Nations, negotiating nuclear disarmament, human rights, and climate change treaties, and was also a White House Ambassador for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders under President Obama. During law school, he has spent time at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Perkins Coie, and Kirland & Ellis.
