The Fellow will work between September 15, 2014 and September 14, 2015,\u00a0with the possibility of extending the fellowship for at least another year. This is a full-time\u00a0position.<\/p>\n<p>The Pro Bono Fellow will be a critical member of Orrick&#8217;s dynamic Pro Bono Department.\u00a0The Orrick Fellow will be expected to choose an area of law to devote the majority of his or her\u00a0practice to, working with, among others, the firm\u2019s pro bono counsel. Special consideration will\u00a0be given to applicants who have a background and\/or interest in the firm\u2019s innovative impact\u00a0finance initiative which provides support to social entrepreneurs, impact investors and others\u00a0in the impact investing space. In addition to devoting approximately 80% of his or her time\u00a0to this area of specialty, the Pro Bono Fellow will work closely with the Pro Bono Counsel to\u00a0manage the firm&#8217;s entire global Pro Bono Department and develop project opportunities for\u00a0Orrick attorneys in the U.S. Further, the Orrick Fellow will be expected to support the Pro Bono\u00a0Counsel with administrative tasks relating to the firm&#8217;s pro bono program.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 High academic achievement and professional accomplishment.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Served a judicial clerkship or has been actively working in the field of public interest law\u00a0preferred; though qualified third-year law students will be strongly considered.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Admitted to the Bar of New York, Washington DC, or California, but not required.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Demonstrated commitment to an area of public interest legal work.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Superb organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to handle multiple projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Professional demeanor.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience in leadership roles, managing projects and other team members.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Capacity to think strategically and execute plans in a timely basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Basic knowledge of legal Pro Bono community in and around the cities where we work,\u00a0including the various players and roles, as well as the legal concepts and issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Responds promptly to attorney and\/or staff needs and solicits feedback to improve service;\u00a0meets commitments.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills (professional and computer); shares\u00a0expertise with others.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knowledge of spreadsheet software, word processing software, PowerPoint, and Microsoft\u00a0Office required.<\/p>\n<p>Orrick is a top ranked global law firm.
