Position Description<\/span>:<\/p>\n

FHI 360 is looking to fill the full-time position of Research Associate at the Education\u00a0Policy and Data Center<\/a> (EPDC) based in Washington, DC. EPDC is a research and analysis unit\u00a0in the Global Learning Group of FHI 360. The FHI 360 Global Learning Group provides\u00a0technical expertise and implements comprehensive education development programs\u00a0across the globe.<\/p>\n

Working under the oversight of EPDC Director, the Research Associate will play a key\u00a0technical role in data management and research. Core tasks will include:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Data management: data collection across a variety of data sources, including\u00a0household surveys, achievement databases, national administrative data\u00a0collection, and other relevant education data repositories. The incumbent will\u00a0contribute to the development of Stata .do files, as well as adapt existing codes,\u00a0used to gather relevant information on key education indicators, such as school\u00a0participation rates, learning outcomes, the composition of school-going and out-of-school populations, etc., and ensure that the EPDC database is up to date.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Identify historical and geographic trends and contribute to the development of\u00a0core EPDC resources such as country profiles, data reports, and interactive\u00a0tools for education planning.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lead or contribute to the design, implementation and publication of EPDC\u00a0research on key issues in education, using sound quantitative research and\u00a0analysis methods, with a particular emphasis on strengthening causal inference\u00a0for non-experimental studies. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to\u00a0larger team projects as well as initiate and lead smaller-scale projects.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lead or contribute to client-driven data analysis or visualization projects,\u00a0including working with internal or external clients to conceptualize and develop\u00a0project scopes and budgets, engaging in data management and analysis and\u00a0the visual and written presentation of findings.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Provide research and data services to ensure that relevant FHI 360 business\u00a0development activities are well informed and data driven.<\/p>\n

Minimum Requirements<\/span>:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Master\u2019s degree in international education, international development,\u00a0international policy, or related field.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Minimum five years of experience in international education, with at least two\u00a0years of experience working with large-scale datasets, including household\u00a0surveys.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Strong command of Stata a must, other statistical packages a plus.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Good command of advanced functions and model building in Excel.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Strong writing skills in English required (writing sample requested).<\/p>\n

\u2022 Research experience, with at least three research projects that resulted in a\u00a0conference presentation and completion of a paper, preferably using quantitative\u00a0analysis of international education data.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Language proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic a plus.<\/p>\n
