The horrific murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, Dion Johnson, and countless others demonstrate that systemic racism and police brutality are still pervasive in a system that has denied justice to Black people and communities for far too long.\u00a0 As Jews, our commitment to standing in solidarity with the Black community to fight against these systemic elements is one rooted in our belief to not stand idly by in the face of injustice. We voice our commitment to supporting and following the lead of Harvard\u2019s Black Law Student Association and will keep our own message short to elevate the voices of our peers. We encourage you to read BLSA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/harvard.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=27f744eae000582a18a746988&amp;id=63872cf8bf&amp;e=50d173678a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" dir=\"ltr\">The Jewish Law Students Association stands in solidarity with BLSA in their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/harvard.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=27f744eae000582a18a746988&amp;id=a56cf3f019&amp;e=50d173678a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/harvard.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D27f744eae000582a18a746988%26id%3Da56cf3f019%26e%3D50d173678a&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1595556795945000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFXb25lGHRGPBbHrPmEwAHL3ndVtg\">demands to the administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Those demands are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Establish an office of diversity and inclusion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Defund the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Match donations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Refrain from penalizing student protesters.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Implement mandatory annual implicit bias training for all Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) providers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Implement a critical race theory curriculum.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Hire and retain more Black faculty and faculty of color.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Prison Divestment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To the Jewish students of Color in our community we commit to do better to center your voices.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In addition to the resources listed in the BLSA statement, here are ways to get involved:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><u>Protest<\/u>\u00a0if you are willing.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><u>Support<\/u>\u00a0the movement through means other than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/harvard.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=27f744eae000582a18a746988&amp;id=cffe56ec38&amp;e=50d173678a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/harvard.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D27f744eae000582a18a746988%26id%3Dcffe56ec38%26e%3D50d173678a&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1595556795945000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE6wcFBVfZL8FQ-U_Zth3wplJA3Mw\">protesting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><u>Read<\/u>\u00a0how Black Jews are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/harvard.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=27f744eae000582a18a746988&amp;id=d76b1a4442&amp;e=50d173678a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"
