2022-2023 Leadership Board

Louis Hunt, President
Louis is a third-year JD/MBA student at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. Louis was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to the Boston area during elementary school. Over the past few summers, Louis worked as an EIR at Pioneer Square Labs and led Special Projects for Lightning Labs. Prior to school, Louis worked as the COO of a fast-growth CPG company and a consultant at Bain & Company.

Farzam Karimi, Vice President of Research & Policy

Farzam is a second-year JD student at Harvard Law School. He worked as a software developer and analyst at Kapital Labs where he constructed Smart Contracts and performed on chain analysis. Farzam is currently a research affiliate for the Harvard & Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics. He has also been a consultant for several Web-3 based projects and start-ups.

Jonathan Pock, Vice President of Research & Governance
Jonathan is an LLM student at Harvard Law School and a PhD candidate at the University of Vienna, where he has co-taught a class on crypto-assets with Prof. Chris Thomale. Jonathan previously worked in the fintech investment team at Speedinvest and at Boston Consulting Group. He also served as the President of Vienna Law Clinics, advising early stage startups.
Madeleine Matsui, Vice President of Communications

Madeleine is a third-year J.D. student at Harvard Law School from Hong Kong. She graduated from Brown University where she majored in Urban Studies and International Relations. She spent her 2L summer at Gunderson Dettmer’s New York City office.

Katherine Ko, Treasurer
Katherine is a second-year law student at Harvard Law School. She graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa from Columbia University, where she double majored in Art History and French Language and Literature. She spent her 1L summer at Proskauer. Prior to law school, she worked at Sotheby’s in New York where she witnessed the rise of NFTs, sparking her interest in the intersection between art, technology and law. In her free time, Katherine is an avid artist, pianist and runner. She has run 38 marathons, participated in a 70.3 Ironman, and is the youngest person in Asia to finish the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors (Boston, New York, London, Chicago, Berlin, and Tokyo).
Xiaoli Jin, Vice President of Professional Development

Xiaoli is a second-year JD student at Harvard Law School. She graduated from Middlebury College in 2019 with a double major in Computer Science and Political Science. Prior to law school, she worked at Keystone Strategy as a consultant, focusing on algorithmic bias, data privacy, and start-up growth strategy. In her 1L summer, she interned at Skadden, Palo Alto, where she worked on technology matters in the context of Mergers and Acquisitions. In addition to HLSBFI, Xiaoli is also involved with the Harvard Innovation Lab. She is a non-residential tutor at the Harvard Cabot House as well.

Chu Chen, Vice President of Operations

Chu is an LLM student at Harvard Law School. Prior to Harvard, he worked at China’s most prominent fintech company, Ant Group, as a legal counsel of its technology branch, focusing on blockchain-preserved evidence, privacy computation, NFT, and other Web3-related matters. Before Ant Group, Chu was an associate at Fangda Partners in Beijing. He mainly worked on Mergers and Acquisitions matters and was later seconded to a legal technology startup as its Product Director and Sole Counsel.

Louise Tang, Vice President of Marketing

Louise is a second-year JD student at Harvard Law School. She graduated from Cornell University in 2021, where she double majored in Economics and Government and minored in Information Science. At HLS, Louise is also involved in the Harvard Business Law Review, Harvard Asia Law Society, China Law Association, and CISGA. She spent her 1L summer at the New York State Office of the Attorney General. In her free time, you can find Louise working out, playing with Legos, and exploring new restaurants.
