Bastien Tirel is an LL.M. candidate from France and a lawyer qualified in Paris and Madrid. Before coming to Harvard, Bastien studied at Sciences Po (BA and JD) and completed a postgraduate program on international economic law at the Sorbonne, from which he graduated top of his class.
After a clerkship at the French Cour de cassation, he worked for a year as an associate at a boutique arbitration firm specialized in defending South American States, then for two years at the Paris office of Mayer Brown, where he worked on various international disputes, with a focus on investment treaty cases, as counsel for both States and claimant investors.
At Harvard, Bastien intends to deepen his understanding of public international law and arbitration, and to explore constitutional law and evidentiary issues.
