HIALSA – HKS Speaker Series – How to hold Russia accountable for the invasion of Ukraine?

Please join the Harvard International Arbitration Law Students Association (HIALSA) and the Future of Diplomacy Project at Harvard Kennedy School for a conversation on Russia’s accountability for the invasion of Ukraine.

Our speakers will be Professor Harold Hongju Koh, Sterling Professor of International Law at Yale Law School who acts as Ukraine’s lawyer in a suit filed against Russia at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and Professor Patrick W. Pearsall, partner at Allen & Overy, who is advising Ukraine’s government on reparations as the director of Columbia University Law School’s International Claims and Reparations Project. Koh and Pearsall will consider possible legal avenues for enforcing Russia’s responsibility for the acts committed in relation to Ukraine’s invasion. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Gabriella Blum, Rita E. Hauser Professor of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Harvard Law School.

The event will take place on November 16 from 4-5 PM in Millstein East (Wasserstein Students Center, Harvard Law School) followed by a reception. Those who cannot join in person are welcome to join the live stream.
