{"id":56,"date":"2023-02-05T16:43:50","date_gmt":"2023-02-05T16:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hlsorgs3stg.wpenginepowered.com\/dlsa\/?page_id=56"},"modified":"2025-08-07T17:33:24","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T17:33:24","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/orgs.law.harvard.edu\/dlsa\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>DLSA is a student-run affinity group on campus for students with disabilities.<\/strong> Our diverse member body includes students with mobility impairments, learning\/cognitive disorders, chronic conditions, neurodivergence, sensory loss, psychosocial disorders, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">much<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, much more.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We provide a community to facilitate peer support and discussion of shared interests relating to disability, frequently over shared (free!) meals.&nbsp; A crucial role we also play is to help students learn about and procure educational accommodations by facilitating connections with the HLS Accessibility office. We value students&#8217; privacy and welcome students at whatever stage they&#8217;re at with identifying as disabled.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of that, our group sometimes engages in activism and advocacy for accessibility and inclusion.&nbsp; We actively work to fight ableism and stigma on campus, and educate the broader community on better supporting disabled students.&nbsp; Finally, we host speakers (with disabilities and without) who discuss their scholarship and careers and advise us on how we can become effective advocates and self-advocates for disability justice.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DLSA is a student-run affinity group on campus for students with disabilities.
