Child & Youth Advocates (CYA) is a community of students interested in a wide variety of issues affecting children and youth, including juvenile justice, child welfare, education, and children’s rights. We aim to heighten awareness and encourage discussion of these issues at HLS, facilitate student involvement with children and youth in our community and beyond, and advocate for children’s rights. Our initiatives include:
- Child Advocacy Hub: The Child Advocacy Hub connects organizations working on children’s issues to law students interested in working remotely on short-term projects. A brief infosheet of the Hub can be viewed here.
- Child Advocacy Training Series: CYA hosts trainings on skills that help students to work with child clients or on issues related to children through their internships, clinics, post-graduate work, or pro bono work at firms or during the academic school year.
- Database of Advocates for Children at HLS: The CYA database includes students and alumni who are considering or pursuing careers involving children, youth, and adolescents, and it is continuously updated as submissions are received.
- Community Events: CYA organizes various events on campus related to child and youth issues.
