{"id":4408,"date":"2026-04-17T23:05:43","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T03:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orgs.law.harvard.edu\/blsa\/?p=4408"},"modified":"2026-04-19T03:20:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T07:20:05","slug":"rising-power-hblsa-leaders-take-the-helm-across-harvard-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orgs.law.harvard.edu\/blsa\/2026\/04\/17\/rising-power-hblsa-leaders-take-the-helm-across-harvard-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Rising Power: HBLSA Leaders Take the Helm Across Harvard Law"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Members of the Harvard Black Law Students Association have stepped into leadership roles across the institution for the 2026\u20132027 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student body <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2026\/4\/4\/hls-student-government-elected\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2026\/4\/4\/hls-student-government-elected\/\">recently elected Ifeanyi Umunna \u201928<\/a> as Harvard Law School Student Government President, marking at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2025\/4\/2\/hls-student-gov-elections\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2025\/4\/2\/hls-student-gov-elections\/\">three consecutive years<\/a> of an HBLSA member holding the position. Additionally, Osaze Osayande was elected as a 2L Class Representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harvard Defenders also saw strong HBLSA representation, with seven members elected to its executive board, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elise Colin as President<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allison Singleton as Executive Director<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liyu Woldemichael as Community Director<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brianna Johnson as Litman Symposium Director<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jordan Goodwin as Outreach Director<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ryyan Pritchett as Client Engagement Director<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Several HBLSA members were also elected to lead Harvard Law School\u2019s queer student organization, Lambda. Those elected include <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Travis Harper \u201928 as Co-President<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Max Gillmer \u201927 as Academic Chair<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Calvin Nickelson \u201928 as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Co-Chair<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raynae Chance \u201928 and Stephen Martinez \u201928 as Co-Interschool Liaisons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Argenis Herrera \u201928 as Admissions and Recruitment Co-Chair.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to all!
