{"id":89,"date":"2010-09-24T19:01:17","date_gmt":"2010-09-24T19:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hlsorgs.com\/saldf\/?p=89"},"modified":"2010-09-24T19:01:17","modified_gmt":"2010-09-24T19:01:17","slug":"spring-linen-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orgs.law.harvard.edu\/animallaw\/2010\/09\/24\/spring-linen-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Linen Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of the 2010 spring semester, the Harvard chapter of the Student Animal Legal\u00a0Defense Fund (SALDF) organized a linen drive to benefit the Animal Rescue League of Boston,\u00a0an organization dedicated to rescuing homeless animals from cruelty and neglect.<\/p>\n<p>SALDF\u00a0members set up five donation boxes around the law school campus and dormitories, in which\u00a0the law school community placed donations of towels, sheets and blankets. The Animal Rescue\u00a0League desperately needs these items to line the cages of the animals they shelter. Altogether,\u00a0the linen drive resulted in a large donation consisting of about 5 suitcases worth of linens. When\u00a0SALDF officers arrived at the Animal Rescue League (where the receptionist was comforting a\u00a0week-old abandoned kitten) the shelters\u2019 staff members were extremely grateful for the donation,\u00a0and also expressed relief, as the shelter had been experiencing a severe shortage of linens. While\u00a0each student who dropped off unwanted linens at the end of the school year probably did not\u00a0miss the items much, these old sheets and towels will provide much-needed warmth and comfort\u00a0to neglected animals in the Boston area in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>SALDF plans to organize a\u00a0similar drive at the conclusion of the upcoming academic year.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>More
